HAVN RIB on the water — part of the SLYG marine ecosystem
Our Story

Member of SLYG.
Built within
a wider marine ecosystem.

SEATEK is part of a Sri Lankan-rooted ecosystem shaped by local expertise, hands-on experience and long-term development in the marine sector. The wider story begins with BAFF, first established in 2005 and commercially active from 2008, before the workshop activity was later structured under Solar Impulse from 2010.

This broader ecosystem also connects with a social and educational vision through the BAFF Foundation, reflecting a long-term commitment to skills development, opportunity creation and more responsible sector growth.

Across its different branches, SLYG has developed an integrated structure connecting production, services, hospitality-related marine activities and operational expertise. Over time, this environment created strong workshop capabilities across fabrication, repairs, maintenance and practical problem-solving in marine and business-related contexts.

The story also connects to Loadstar, giving the teams long-standing familiarity with rubber processes, related machinery and associated repair environments. Today, SEATEK continues that technical legacy within a clearer and more structured identity, while remaining fully connected to the wider SLYG ecosystem.

Workshop
From Solar Impulse to SEATEK

A workshop evolution with a clearer positioning.

Before becoming SEATEK, this part of the business operated under the name Solar Impulse. The workshop already existed, the technical know-how was already there, and the activity was already built around practical execution, custom work and operational support.

The transition does not represent a break from that history, but rather the clarification of it. The rebranding was introduced to better define the role of the workshop, strengthen its positioning and separate its service logic from its product logic.

Today, SEATEK stands as the dedicated workshop and service identity of this activity, with a clearer scope focused on repairs and maintenance, custom projects and subcontracting across fabric works, fiberglass works and metal works.
